This is for the Black millennial heading to therapy for the first time.

This is for the Black millennial tackling a chronic illness in our very White healthcare system.

This is for the Black millennial who is ready to tackle the health issues that have always run in the family.

This is a space to read articles that speak to what you are struggling with, pondering over, or just straight up pulling your edges out over in a format that doesn’t sound as removed as WebMD.

While trying to do this adulting thing as a Black millennial (and an aspiring physician), I realized that there was no online outlet for Black millennials and our health.

As millennials, we are blamed for every damn thing. Apparently, we are spoiled and lazy.

As Black people, we are also blamed for every damn thing.

It’s our fault that we didn’t “bootstrap” our way to generational wealth and health.

According to the haters, we should have just worked harder.

But, as a Black millennial sitting squarely at the crossroads of all this blame, I know it’s not that easy. In fact, it’s never been that easy despite what the majority has to say.

And, the majority could be Karen at the office or our aunties and uncles who just don’t understand that Black millennials are taking crap from all sides as we are trying to figure out adulthood.

So, what’s a Black millennial sitting in all this haterade to do?

She starts brainstorming a space where Black millennials can gather to figure out this adulting thing and this health thing from our perspective.

Because we can’t continue to adult our way to success unless we make sure that we are wholly ourselves.

Because, at the end of the day, don’t we deserve better?

You aren’t alone in this.

Let’s create a community together.
